News that Founder Nancy Brinker stepped down from her position as global strategy chair but will remain in a ‘voluntary role’ at Komen has been reported by numerous news sources. It is also reported that she will continue as a lifetime board member.
As reported by the Dallas News, “The breast cancer charity named Judith A. Salerno to replace founder Nancy Brinker, whose promise to her dying sister began a fundraising powerhouse that invested hundreds of millions of dollars in cancer research. Brinker announced last summer she would step down following an onslaught of criticism over Komen’s quickly reversed decision to stop giving grants to Planned Parenthood for breast cancer screenings.”
In her role as chair of global strategy, Nancy Brinker’s compensation was publicly reported as $506,486, including a base salary of $469,282, for the fiscal year ending March 2014.
