Your Future Team

Our San Diego office is currently seeking Case Managers for our THP-NMD program. My Brother’s Keeper offers housing and supportive services to emancipated foster youth between the ages of 18 and 21. Our program is client-centered, trauma-informed, and upholds the highest standards of best practices.

Your Impact

Our program supports young adults aged 18-21 through a comprehensive approach, providing guidance in housing, employment, education, wellness, and other essential areas for a successful transition to independence.

Our Case Workers create a secure and supportive environment for participants as they move towards self-sufficiency. In this role, you will be involved in crisis intervention, case management, on-site community engagement, and the day-to-day operations of our programs at various times. You will use a strength-based, personalized approach to help our participants achieve their goals, while also ensuring a safe, clean, and nurturing living environment for all residents.

Our Housing Specialist plays a vital role in the effective coordination, compliance, and overall management of housing services for participants in the THP NMD program, as well as for all MBK units.

Your Skills and Duties as a Case Manager

  • Provide ongoing Case Management for participants residing in scattered site apartments
  • Provide crisis intervention, situational support, and roommate mediation between participants
  • Keep well-written, concise case notes to include all pertinent information for each participant using County and State mandated tracking systems
  • Maintain well organized and accurate records and case files for all participants
  • Communicate effectively with Program Directors, co-workers, participants, families, and other service providers
  • Ensure residents maintain safe and adequate living environment in accordance with California Community Care Licensing standards

Your Duties as a Housing Specialist

  • Perform monthly housing inspections to assess compliance, cleanliness, and identify any damage or repairs needed in the units.
  • Manage maintenance request submissions for all units, oversee the completion of repairs, and maintain ongoing communication with participants, property management and supervisor.
  • Distribute and manage monthly electric and solar bills for each unit, accurately calculate shared costs among roommates, and ensure timely communication of the financial breakdown.
  • Conduct walk-through inspections for all new participants, including the completion of the initial housing inspection and detailed inspections when exiting the program, documenting repairs and collecting photographs.
  • Coordinate and oversee the delivery and inspection of furniture purchased for units to ensure proper setup and functionality and recordkeeping of invoices.
  • Purchase and deliver new participants, move in supplies while maintaining accurate records and submitting receipts for financial.

Education & Work Experience

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Bachelor’s degree in social science, psychology or a related field is required, Master's degree preferred
  • Experience working with young adults (ages 18-24) required
  • Familiar with the operations of a transitional living program
  • Experience with Independent Living Skills issues preferred
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Must be self-aware, flexible, adaptable and teachable
  • Valid CA Driver's License
  • Current CDL H6 print-out (must be dated within 30 days of application.)
  • Pass pre-employment drug testing
  • Criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work and signing a statement regarding criminal convictions
  • A physical exam and negative TB test results
  • Ability to adequately observe participants activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute
