Description
Under general supervision, performs professional planning duties.
*This position performs duties deemed to be “safety sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City’s policies*
Essential Job Functions:- Drafts Planning Commission, City Council, Board of Adjustment, and Downtown Advisory Board reports on lot splits, site plans, preliminary and conditional final plats, zoning change requests, and downtown construction.
- Answers questions from citizens, appraisers, architects, engineers, consultants, attorneys, and relators regarding various land use, development, and process questions.
- Researches property history and consults with various departments to provide zoning verification letters to citizens, appraisers, architects, engineers, consultants, attorneys, and relators.
- Prepares and presents visual aids for Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment, Technical Advisory Committee, and Downtown Advisory Board Meetings as well as other City meetings as needed.
- Prepares reports and GIS maps for presentations on housing, commercial development, school related projects and demographics.
- Updates zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations as needed.
- Assists with preparation of items for Planning Commission and City Council including taking in submittals, entry into Naviline, drafting and mailing of public notices and newspaper notices, and requesting placement of zoning signs.
- Reviews applications for telecommunication towers, new and upgrades.
- Researches Specific Use Permits on the property, zoning information, site plan compliance and verify structural analysis reports and lease agreements.
- Prepares utility easement and right-of-way documents for City Council, including dedications, closures, and partial closures.
- Works with applicants and surveyors to correct errors in legal descriptions and ordinance documents.
- Reviews site and landscape plans for compliance with the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, supplemented by one to two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Physical Requirements:
Tasks involve the ability to exert minimal physical effort in sedentary work, typically involving some combination of balancing, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
