Job title: Scholarships Coordinator for the American Rhodes Scholarship
Location: McLean, VA (Hybrid Working)
Hours: Full-time
Salary: $59,000 - $63,000
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Scholarships Coordinator to join the Rhodes Trust. The Scholarships Coordinator is a key role within the Selection and Outreach function of the Rhodes Trust, supporting the American National Secretary and the Director of the Office of the American Secretary.
About the Rhodes Trust
The Rhodes Trust is an educational charity which offers Rhodes Scholarships to exceptional students from around the world to come and study at the University of Oxford. Our mission is to build a better world through global fellowship programmes that develop and connect compassionate, innovative, and public-spirited people committed to solving humanity’s challenges.
Each year 32 college students from the United States are selected as Rhodes Scholars, through a decentralized process representing the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. The U.S. Scholarship recipients are selected by 16 regional selection committees, each awarding two Scholarships. Applicants from more than 300 American colleges and universities have been selected as Rhodes Scholars.
The role
This role will play a key administrative and operational role in managing the U.S. Rhodes Scholarship application and selection process, supporting candidates and institutions, as well as the Trust’s broader programming and outreach efforts.
The Scholarship Coordinator will also work closely with key stakeholders including applicants, district secretaries, selection committee members, institutional fellowship advising offices, Rhodes alumni and Trust Staff.
This role will be responsible for;
- Providing support to the American Secretary, the Director of the Office of the American Secretary, and the Rhodes U.S. constituency by managing key activities and milestones in the annual Scholarship selection and outreach cycle.
- Serving as a foundation point of contact for candidates and institutions, offering guidance on applications and eligibility criteria.
- Planning and managing logistics and itineraries for the American Secretary, ensuring smooth execution of all engagements.
- Maintaining accurate and timely data entry in the Trust’s CRM system (Salesforce).
- Supporting the production of all necessary selection and outreach materials.
- Managing incoming and outgoing communications, addressing urgent matters promptly, especially during the absence of the American Secretary.
- Maintaining and updating effective filing and archival systems for the Office of the American Secretary.
- Collaborating with the Rhodes House team to stay informed on central policies and guidance related to selection.
- Carrying out any other duties relevant to the role, as requested.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Ideal candidates for this role must have a strong background in coordination and/or administration and the following skills, experience and qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within a relevant organisation.
- Experience with non-profit organisations or higher education institutions is desirable.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and content management systems (CMS).
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and professional reports and correspondence tailored to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence and respect in all matters, with exceptional attention to detail in every task.
- Maintain a service-minded, flexible, and adaptive approach, with the foresight to anticipate needs and the ability to pivot quickly to new tasks when required.
- Work highly collaboratively, engaging thoughtfully with colleagues and maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.
- Takes initiative to act proactively or reactively as necessary, demonstrating resourcefulness in finding effective solutions.
