Description
Basic Function: The Membership Coordinator oversees all aspects of membership, including recruitment and retention of members, chapter development, and community outreach.
- Assures that the membership department achieves its yearly strategic objectives, and serves as the main contact person for all members on membership issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement membership recruitment and retention strategies that are aligned with VFP’s Strategic Plan, including:
- Creating and distributing membership marketing materials;
- Identifying prospects, both for member development and outreach opportunities
- Organizing outreach events for existing and potential members;
- Integrate new members into their prospective chapters and complete initial one-on-one conversation with at-large members
- Responding to requests for information about membership, and answering questions about membership;
- Maintaining membership database, including updating member contact information, dues records, invoicing, and reporting;
- Reporting to Executive Director and the Board on membership totals and revenues.
- Staffing the Membership Committee and working with committee chair and members
- Provide information, referrals and technical assistance to members via email and phone.
- Develop and promote VFP’s toolkits for chapter development and organizing.
- Contribute to newsletter, publications and website on membership and chapter topics
- Educate members on the use and application of social media, promoting its use.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested, including minor marketing design work, assistance with in-house workshops, and attendance at events for liaison-building and outreach opportunities
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of exceeding objectives in a membership organization
- Ability to develop targets and strategies.
- Preferred experience with EveryAction (or similar database programs) and other related operations systems for membership management
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Comfortable with working in a collaborative team environment
- Must possess an open communications style
- Highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
