Description
Burton Homes Community Outreach (BHCO) is a newly established facility dedicated to serving Chicago’s most vulnerable populations, including individuals struggling with substance abuse and mental health challenges. We also provide resources to homeless veterans, youth and minorities. As a state-funded organization, BHCO provides essential behavioral health services, ensuring access to quality care for those in need. We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Part-Time Medical Doctor to support our mission by reviewing substance abuse treatment plans and clinical notes. This is an ideal opportunity for a retired physician or a medical professional looking to give back to the community while maintaining flexibility in their schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and approve substance abuse treatment plans to ensure they align with state and federal guidelines.
- Assess clinical notes and documentation to confirm compliance with medical best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Provide professional recommendations and feedback to the clinical team to enhance patient care.
- Collaborate with licensed therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to support effective treatment strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of reviews and approvals in accordance with state-funded program guidelines.
Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license and insurance (or retired with ability to maintain required oversight).
- Experience in substance abuse treatment, addiction medicine, or behavioral health preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and state funding regulations related to substance abuse treatment.
- Strong understanding of clinical documentation and compliance standards.
- Passion for community health and supporting underserved populations.
