Description

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the Chief Executive Officer, overseeing all aspects of the organization. This includes strategic planning, fundraising, staff management, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality animal welfare services. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED provides vision, leadership, and operational oversight to achieve the organization’s mission.

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop, implement, and regularly update a 3-year strategic plan.
  • Provide effective leadership to staff, volunteers, and partners, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring the humane care and treatment of animals.
  • Develop and maintain operational protocols that align with industry best practices.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure robust governance practices, fostering transparency and accountability to advance the organization's mission.

Fundraising & Financial Management

  • Develop and execute fundraising strategies, including grant research/writing, donor and endowment development, and fundraising events.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial accountability and sustainability.
  • Oversee financial reporting, audits, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Community Engagement & Advocacy

  • Serve as the organization's public face, promoting the mission to donors, media, and community stakeholders.
  • Build partnerships with local businesses, government agencies, other animal shelters, and nonprofits to further the organization’s goals.
  • Oversee educational and outreach programs to raise awareness about animal welfare issues.
  • Leverage our volunteer base to help with animal welfare and fundraising events.

Board Relations

  • Serve as a liaison between staff, volunteers, and the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare regular reports and updates to inform the Board of operational and financial performance.
