Description
The Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd in the United States and Toronto are in a time of transformation toward a new Regional Structure that will foster a universal culture of justice through equity, healing, and reconciliation. This change management process requires active leadership and comfort with ambiguity as we evolve. The Executive Team, which includes the Director of Regional Administration, will play an essential role in cultivating this new reality for the Good Shepherd in the United States and Toronto.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Regional Leader, the Director of Regional Administration is responsible for the oversight of all administrative operations, human resources, facilities, and financial functions of the Region, including personnel in these areas. This executive role collaborates regularly with members of the Executive Team including Communications, Living Communion, and Mission Effectiveness. The Director of Regional Administration applies leadership, communication, adaptability, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills to carry out duties and foster teamwork among the regional administrative staff. This leader’s values and actions must align with the spirit of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, who endeavor to bring about a universal culture of justice. The Director meets regularly with the Regional Leadership Team.
EXECUTIVE TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
All members of the Executive Team are responsible for the following:
- Understand and support the mission and values of the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd, each participating entity, and vowed religious life.
- Demonstrate active implementation of the Core Values of Zeal, Dignity and Respect, Mercy, Reconciliation, and Empowerment and Advocacy
- Maintain effective collaboration with Executive Team members (Communications, Living Communion, Mission Effectiveness), modeling the values of the Good Shepherd in the Executive Team structure, and one’s actions and interactions
- Coordinate with Regional and Congregational groups, e.g., Good Shepherd Volunteers, National Advocacy Center, Mission Values Team, Good Shepherd International Justice and Peace Office, Good Shepherd International Foundation, and other congregational offices
- Conduct regular staff meetings and in-service programs with support of the Regional Leader and Regional Leadership Team, as needed
- Support staff development and formation in the mission, purpose, and values of the Region in accordance with the formation and training programs and policies of the Region
- Facilitate effective communication between and among Regional employees and vowed members (sisters)
- Ensure a healthy work environment
- Assess needs for appropriate staffing within their supervisory purview
- Represent the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in external relations when appropriate
- Act as a resource for the various Region-sponsored and non-sponsored ministries.
- Coordinate and direct outside professionals serving as advisors, as appropriate
- Carry out special projects and other duties as assigned by the Regional Leader or delegate
DIRECTOR OF REGIONAL ADMINISTRATION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervisory oversight of Administrative Staff and the functioning of their offices, including: Finance, Facilities, IT, Human Resources, Risk and Property Management, Sister Health and Wellness, and exercise responsibility for regional administrative functioning
- Ensure a system of internal controls to safeguard the assets of the Region
- Provide direction for preparation of the annual budget for approval of the Leadership Team
- Maintain close and effective communication with the Regional Treasurer regarding all important regional financial matters
- Provide the Leadership Team with financial data and fact-based interpretations to promote a balance between continuance of the mission and care for the sisters
