Who Are We:
A child’s foundations in life and learning are essential to lifelong success. First 8 Memphis (F8M) was founded to build an early care and education system that will allow every child in Memphis and Shelby County reach their full potential by focusing on building a strong start during a child's first 8 years of life. We are an advocacy, coordinating and convening organization working across the age spectrum and programs that support young children and their families including: home visiting, childcare, Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) and Kindergarten - 3rd grade supports. F8M’s early care and education systems building work is conducted in collaboration with the F8M Leadership Council and other stakeholders. F8M is governed by a highly regarded Board of Directors who partner with staff to help reach our community and organizational goals.
The Opportunity:
F8M seeks an innovative Data & Analytics Manager to strategize, coordinate, and implement data collection, monitoring, analysis, and reporting across the full Early Care and Education System in Memphis and Shelby County. F8M works collaboratively with stakeholders across the community to implement a system that supports young children, their families, and their Early Care and Education providers in accessing the resources they need to thrive. This work depends on comprehensive access to and actionable understanding of the outcomes of a variety of health, early care, and education efforts.
This role will also specifically support the existing F8M Pre-K Program, which currently includes 80 classrooms across 17 providers - with goals for expansion! In addition to Pre-K, the F8M Leadership Council has outlined a goal to establish an Early Childhood Report Card, highlighting the status of Early Care and Education in our community. This role will be essential in developing the framework to collect, monitor, analyze, and report this community data. This is a new position created to enhance our data analysis and leverage the successes of our programs.
The Data & Analytics Manager duties include but are not limited to:
Data Infrastructure and Management (50%)
- Develop and implement an information and data management strategy that elevates and supports our strategic priorities and programmatic goals
- Collaborate with F8M leadership, Seeding Success and other stakeholders to identify key data, information and knowledge flow needs and gaps
- Develop technical solutions to create and maintain an equitable, accessible, purposeful, and adaptive data value chain
- Create and champion an internal data and information governance structure, culture and practice aligned with F8M’s values
- Build streamlined methods for data entry and analysis techniques
- Collaborate with appropriate staff to define data requirements
- Develop and implement guidelines and processes to ensure data quality and security
- Ensure federal, state and local data governance and compliance requirements are met
- Proactively manage data-related risks
- Drive continuous improvement of data governance and management across the organization
Data Analysis (40%)
- Perform advanced data analysis
- Synthesize data and information into coherent stories, visuals, reports and recommendations that surface key insights and illustrate F8M’s impact in the community
- Prepare reports and presentations for F8M
- Serve as an analytical and technical thought partner
- Familiarity with use of Postgresql data warehouse
- Work with partner organization to verify data, troubleshoot issues and correct errors
- Train staff to be able to query information using the database system
Leadership (10%)
- Support and provide feedback on strategic and tactical topics to the Senior Leadership Team
- Manage and develop direct reports, including Data & Analytics Associate
Perform other duties as assigned.

- Can travel approximately 10% of time around Shelby County and, potentially, statewide and nationally
EXPERIENCE
Required:
- 3 - 5 years of experience running data analytics initiatives
- 3 - 5 years of experience architecting data infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience in project management and data and information management frameworks and controls
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or related degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- Experience with SQL
Preferred:
- Experience analyzing Education Data, specifically Prek-12
- Not-for-Profit Experience
- Python or R Experience

What We Offer: The salary for this role is $100,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include standard health, dental and 401K retirement plan, with a match, and a professional development stipend. New employees will be on a ninety (90) day introductory and probationary period. This period serves two (2) purposes: it allows you, as a new employee, to evaluate your job, work group, supervisor and colleagues and to decide whether to remain in employment and it allows your supervisor the opportunity to evaluate your performance and to decide whether to retain you as a regular employee, extend your introductory status, or terminate your employment.
