About Catholic Charities Community Services:
Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS) was founded in 1949 as the primary direct service provider for The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York and is one of the largest agencies within the federation of Catholic Charities agencies. With an operating budget of $100 million, CCCS provides a comprehensive range of professional human services and programs at approximately 50 sites in the NYC boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx, and in the Lower Hudson Valley. The sites include multi-service community centers, camps and neighborhood centers.

CCCS offers services to more than 140,000 individuals annually without regard to race, ethnicity or religion. CCCS employs more than 700 individuals, and their work is complemented by thousands of volunteers.

Position Summary:
The CEO provides leadership, strategic direction, and oversight in the provision of services throughout the Archdiocese of New York. CCCS consists of five divisions: Beacon of Hope, Alianza Youth Services, Community Outreach Services, Immigrant and Refugee Services, and Catholic Youth Organization. The CEO strengthens the agency’s existing suite of services, develops new services based on the needs of the communities we serve and provides direction in the Agency’s response to emergent needs of the underserved communities.

The CEO effectively engages in policy and advocacy work, media relations, operations oversight, community relations, parish and staff engagement. In close collaboration with CCCS Executive Leadership, this role is responsible for the implementation of overall internal controls, supervisory support, strategic planning, program development, budget, and contracts management.

The CEO represents and acts as a spokesperson on behalf of CCCS. This role serves as a positive representative to bridge connections with internal stakeholders and external community partners. The CEO reports directly to the Chair of the Board.

Chief Executive Officer, Catholic Charities Community Services Primary Job Responsibilities

Managerial and Fiscal:
Management & Operational Oversight:
• Oversee/manage the Divisions operations including funding, planning, staffing, community relations and engagement.
Fiscal Oversight & Management:
• Contribute to the internal annual budget process in coordination with Fiscal team.
• Assist with the development of new, proposed or modified contract budgets.
Fundraising & Development:
• Support the team in developing proposals for new and expanded services and the fulfillment of grant reporting requirements.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships and provide leadership with local government, non-profit, and philanthropic entities to secure support and funding for programs to meet the ongoing and emerging needs of our clients.
Reporting:
• Report regularly to the Board Chair on all initiatives and other matters affecting the Agency.
• Ensure proper escalations and effective communication with Senior Leadership.
• Provide regular agency reports for presentation to the Board of CCCS and the Program/Quality Improvement Committee.

Team Leadership:
Staff Development
• Build and lead an effective executive team, empower leaders at all levels, and promote talent development and succession planning
• Foster a positive organizational culture by promoting core values, encouraging collaboration and ensuring a supportive work environment.

Community and Public Relations:
Relationship & Coalition Building:
• Enhance awareness and support of CCCS and its programs to various public and private groups.
• Build relationships with service and advocacy organizations operating at the local, state and federal level.
• Ensure that staff are participating in local coalitions working to improve services, laws, regulations, and policies affecting our communities in accordance with the mission and values of CCCS.
• Engage with Parishes, archdiocesan offices, other CC agencies, volunteers, and grassroots groups to assess needs, identify service gaps, and develop and implement programs to meet those needs.

Policy & Advocacy:
• Provide leadership in the development of Agency public advocacy positions affecting the communities we serve on a city, local municipality, State and Federal level.
• Advocate for fair, consistent and appropriate funding levels that permit comprehensive quality service delivery. Coordinate with the CCCS Government Relations office.
Programmatic and Compliance:
Strategic Blueprint:
• Guide, implement and monitor the Strategic Blueprint initiatives so that CCCS effectively delivers programs and strengthens its operational capacity.
Program Design & Implementation:
• Develop and monitor a coordinated system of service delivery that responds to the unique needs of the communities we serve.
• Ensure consistent, comprehensive, mission driven and holistic service delivery.
• Support agency-wide efforts related to analytics and outcome measures for all programs.
• Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, quality management, and continuous improvement to support the services needed to meet program goals.
Internal Agency Operations:
• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures in the following areas: Human Resources, Finance, Facilities, Institutional Advancement, Information Technology and Legal Affairs.

Qualifications:

Educational Background
• Master’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, social work, or related field.

Experience
• Leadership Experience: Minimum 10 years’ experience leading and managing teams.
• Nonprofit Sector Knowledge: 10 + years’ experience working with large nonprofit organizations; strong understanding of nonprofit operations, fundraising, and mission- driven work.
• Program Management: Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating programs/services, especially in underserved communities.
• Strategic Planning: Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans that align with the mission and goals of CCCS.
• Financial Acumen: Proven experience in budgeting and financial management; familiarity with financial statements and grant management.
• Public Relations/Communications: Experience representing an organization publicly, including media relations, marketing, and advocacy.
• Fundraising/Development: Familiarity with fundraising, including grant writing and donor relations.
Skills
• Leadership: Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage teams and make critical decisions.
• Communications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage a variety of stakeholders, including staff, Board Members, donors, and community leaders.
• Organizational: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities efficiently with exceptional time management and attention to detail.
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex issues.
• Advocacy/Negotiation: Advocacy and negotiation capabilities to represent CCCS’ interests and build strategic partnerships.

Compensation
The salary range of $275,000-300,000 represents the low and high end of the salary for this role. It is based on various factors including but not limited to professional and academic experience, associated responsibilities, and other business and organizational needs. The range listed is one component of our total compensation package. Salary decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each hire.

Additional Information
A moderate amount of travel required outside of NYC.
CCCS has a hybrid work model in place for qualifying positions. This role requires in office attendance for the first 90 days before transitioning to a hybrid schedule.
