WHO WE ARE: Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County (HFHDC) is part of a global nonprofit housing organization founded on Christian principles. It is dedicated to building homes, communities, and hope. We aim to eradicate substandard housing locally and globally by constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes. We advocate for fair and just housing policies and provide training and resources to help families improve their living conditions. POSITION OVERVIEW: We seek an innovative and strategic leader to join HFHDC as the next CEO. This individual will not only lead the organization but also have a profound impact on the community. They will collaborate closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, community partners, and donors to advance our mission and vision. The CEO will provide strategic direction, lead fundraising efforts, promote community engagement, and guide the organization into the future. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, strategic planning, fundraising, community engagement skills, and a deep commitment to Habitat's mission. They should be capable of creating and nurturing new programs and relationships while mentoring and developing new leaders and partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute long-term strategic plans aligned with HFHDC’s mission. Provide vision and leadership to staff, volunteers, and the community.
  • Fundraising: Develop and implement a comprehensive resource development strategy. Cultivate relationships with donors, corporate partners, and government agencies to drive financial growth.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage budgeting, financial reporting, and audits. Ensure financial sustainability through effective resource management.
  • Board Engagement: Work closely with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates on organizational performance and strategy. Assist in Board development and fundraising efforts.
  • Program Growth: Champion existing programs, including homeownership, home repair, and racial equity in housing initiatives, ensuring annual goals and timelines are met.
  • Community & Public Relations: Serve as the public face of HFHDC, maintaining partnerships with local nonprofits, government officials, and the community to advance the mission.
  • Talent Development: Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture by guiding staff recruitment, mentorship, and professional growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred) in public policy, administration, or related fields is required.
  • 7–10 years of nonprofit leadership experience, including direct management, fundraising, and financial oversight.
  • Proven track record in relationship building and community engagement.
  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of nonprofit funding structures.
  • Experience in affordable housing, community development, and construction is highly desirable.
  • Leadership style that promotes inclusivity, collaboration, and empowerment.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The salary ranges from $100K to $180K (commensurate with experience), and HFHDC offers a competitive benefits package.
