About the Role
The Brooklyn College Foundation seeks an enthusiastic and skilled Associate Gift Officer to join our dynamic Institutional Advancement team. This role manages a portfolio of 50–100 major gift prospects and provides critical support to frontline fundraisers. As a key contributor to Brooklyn College’s fundraising initiatives and capital campaign, you’ll help advance the institution’s mission through meaningful donor engagement and impactful fundraising strategies.
The Associate Gift Officer collaborates with the research team, board members, and frontline fundraisers to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors. In addition to donor relations, this position supports the leadership gifts team by preparing correspondence, proposals, stewardship reports, and gift agreements.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Engagement & Fundraising
- Develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for prospective donors, guiding them through the giving cycle.
- Steward existing donors, maintaining sensitivity to their needs and ensuring continued engagement and support.
- Balance time and resources to maximize donor relationships and gift outcomes
Campaign Support & Collaboration
- Contribute to Brooklyn College’s capital campaign by raising campaign gifts, drafting materials, and collaborating with campaign leadership.
- Assist with events involving the College President, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, and other senior staff.
- Provide support for cultivation, stewardship, and major events, ensuring seamless execution.
Administrative & Team Support
- Prepare donor-related materials, including proposals, gift agreements, acknowledgments, and stewardship reports.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donors and prospect records in Raiser’s Edge
- Assist leadership gifts team members with special projects as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience
- 2–3 years of experience in fundraising, preferably in higher education.
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional writing, organizational, interpersonal, and research skills.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to engage with diverse donors and senior staff.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and donor database systems such as Raiser’s Edge.

- Must be willing to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
